The Ultimate iPhone 5 Rumor Round-Up

This Wednesday the new iPhone will be unveiled by Apple. Dubbed until now iPhone 5, the smartphone will come packed with lots of new features. Many of them are pretty much confirmed, such as the smaller dock connector, others we will only find out this week.

Sam Beckett has produced a great iPhone 5 Concept video, inspired by all rumors that have been floating around these last months. He also added some additional features to the phone, such as the fingerprint scanner, that have most likely not made it into the new iPhone. In terms of looks and dimensions and most features listed in the video, he should have come pretty close though.

The actual new iPhone we will be able to show you later this week, until then enjoy the video.

Rumor: The iPhone 5 Will Be Released On September 21, 2012
According to a couple of sources, the iPhone 5 might actually be released a little earlier this year than expected. Japanese accessories makers apparently got word from Apple that an official release of the next general smartphone will take place end of September 2012.

According to a French blog site, the highly anticipated iPhone 5 featuring a larger screen and a 19-pin dock connector will be released on Friday, September 21, 2012.
Citing a source within China’s third largest accessory maker, App4phone.fr claims that Apple has released a few scant details to accessory makers, including a target date in late September.
It could be true. Last year, Apple released the iPhone 4S on October 14, 2011, and while usually Apple tends to go by what they’ve done in the past, September 21st is close enough to early-mid October that there are any number of reasons why Apple might want to get out the next iPhone a little bit earlier: for example, to get it in more hands by Christmas.
If the September 21st date pans out, that would imply that Apple will officially unveil the iPhone 5 ten days earlier, as they did with the iPhone 4S. Would Apple really announce a new iPhone on the anniversary of September 11th, though? We doubt it, but don’t think this is a dealbreaker: Apple could easily push the announcement a day earlier or a day later if they’re feeling like a 9/11 iPhone announcement would be in bad taste.

Lets see what happens, we will of course keep you posted. View Larger

gTar by Incident
Launched on Kickstarter and right afterwards presented during the Techcrunch Disrupt event in New York, the gTar by Incident is a gadget to look out for. The gTar is a fully digital guitar that makes it easy for anybody to play music, regardless of experience. All you have to do is dock your iPhone in the body, load up the gTar app, and an array of interactive LEDs along the fretboard will show you how to play.

“You may be asking yourself what it means for a guitar to be “digital.” While most guitars have pickups to amplify the sound of vibrating strings, the gTar has none – instead, we’ve designed the gTar with sensors that detect exactly what you’re playing in real-time and relay each note to your iPhone, which then produces the actual sound.
The free gTar app comes bundled with a library of songs that you can start playing right away. We’re adding more every week and we’d love to hear your suggestions. Also, if you’ve been itching to play a specific song check out the Song Selection reward tier where we will work with you to get a song of your choosing on to the platform. One of the things that’s so exciting about the gTar is the ability to incorporate different sounds outside of the guitar. So if you want to play a song with a big, warm synth or a booming grand piano, it’s all possible with the gTar.”

All in all a great concept that will teach people how to play guitar, while taking away the usual boundaries created by having to attend lessons. The project has already reached over 200′000 USD on Kickstarter, even though it still has 28 days to go. If you want to join, check out the project page here. View Larger

iPhone 5 LiquidMetal Concept
A while ago HIGHSNOBIETY gave you the latest rumor update, about the upcoming iPhone 5. Next to a new metal body, a larger screen size and some other functionality are expected and when looking at the competition in the market, we can only agree. A thinner and more durable body, as well as a slightly larger screen would be valuable additions to the already great iPhone platform.
NAK Studio from France has now created the iPhone 5 LM Concept, in line with these latest rumors. We like that it is a realistic concept that could actually become reality very soon, as in, this year. View Larger

Apple’s Next Generation iPhone – 5 Rumored Features
While we were excited about the iPhone 4 S launch, especially because of the improved camera, we are still not convinced an upgrade from the iPhone 4 is absolutely necessary. Sure the 4 S is better, but with the iPhone 5 not too far away, a lot of you are probably waiting.
As usual, when it comes to new Apple products, the rumor mills never stand still. Today we report about 5 features that the next generation iPhone will apparently come with and those sound very promising to us already.
A New Metal Body : apparently the new iPhone 5 will be housed in a liquidmetal (the commercial name for an alloy of titanium, zirconium, nickel, copper, and other metals) body
A Larger Screen: rumors are that the screen could go from 3.5 inches to 4.6 inches, which would be a massive increase. Considering the screen sizes of the latest Android phones, we have no doubt that Apple will increase the screen size. By how much exactly we still have to see.
Less Glass: the new display will feature a new type of glass that will also reduce the depth of the phone by quite a bit
4G LTE: we have seen it on the new iPad, so it should definitely come with the new iPhone
iWallet: your phone comes a credit card
