Self-proclaimed goof ball Young Chop fields questions from FADER about his signature sound, his love for hipsters, his new found celebrity in Chicago and more. His personality is like the exact opposite of his beats.
Whilst in New Orleans for Essence Festival 2012, SoulCulture TV sat down with DJ and prolific former-Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh at the House of Blues to discuss his hometown, commercial Hip Hop’s need to diversify, his thoughts on the Southern scene, what it’s been like working with Kanye West and the crew on Cruel Summer, and Lil Wayne’s work ethic. He had a lot to say.
As you may have read, the Feds have decided to drag Swizz’s nameinto their witchhunt against download site Megaupload. In part 1 of his interview with AlLindstrom.com, he speaks very generally about the takedown of the site and vaguely promises that his role with the company and more will be revealed in time.
I for one applaud Swizz for being one of the only major label artists in the world who has had the balls to speak his mind on the subjects of file sharing and technology as it relates to music rather than just regurgitating RIAA falsehoods. That said, somebody needs to feed him some talking points before he opens his mouth because in this clip he states that you “can’t go there and download anything, it’s Megaupload not Megadownload”, which is, of course, not true.
Just sits down with BGR’s Jonathan Geller at his studio where they talk about his creative process and he speaks briefly about how he made the theme music for the show, which launched a few weeks back as part of Pharrell’s i am OTHER initiative. He also shows off his hacked Sony UX180 and the beastly Canon EOS C300.
Watch as G.O.O.D. Music’s own CyHi The Prynce hops in the lab with Legendary producer, 9th Wonder and his Jamla crew just moments after 9th released his latest instrumental project entitled “Tutankhamen”.
Producer extraordinaire Just Blaze sat down with Hard Knock TV’s Nick Huff Barili for an in-depth interview. Just Blaze starts off by talking about Hip Hop incorporating more EDM sounds and how he was ahead of the curb incorporating dance elements into Hip Hop tracks like Joe Budden’s “Fire” back in 2004. As the interview continues Justin talks about signing XV and how he thinks XV has the potential to be one of the next ones. He also states that he has 5 records with him for Kid With The Green Backpack album. Before we let him go we had to ask Just about his relationship with Jay Electronica after making classics like Exhibit A and Exhibit C. He says that since Jay moved out to London they haven’t had a chance to work together but that they talk and are friends. Just says that he has heard the album, but doesn’t know if Jay will call it Act 2 or Act 3 but hopes that they will have time to work on it before Jay has to turn it in. Just ends the interview by saying that he is working on tracks for Drake, Rick Ross and one of the biggest pop stars in the world among others. Can you guess who it might be???
Side note: This interview took place at 4am in hotel lobby. Just Blaze had a flight in the early morning, was just getting back from gig and was recovering from being sick the previous four days yet he still took time to make sure this interview happened. Our gratitude and deepest RESPECT!!!
